2006 NY Auto Show

Sunday April 23rd is the last day of 2006 New York Auto Show. I thought I was going to skip it as last few years, but I finally got an execuse and made it at the last minute. Well, last hour, I spent a full hour in the Javitz Convention Center. I was so efficient since I knew exactly what I was looking after.

Jeep Roller Coaster

Those Jeep guys turned the cars into roller coasters! They set up a big tent with all kinds of terrains. And the slope looked like a roller coaster. And the amount of people waiting for the test driving was just like the one in Six Flag.

GTC
Bentley is a name associated with Luxury, Powerful, Enduring. Reminds me of Rolex. It is a nice car, as long as you can afford an English driver.

New Element
I paid a special visit to the Honda, since my current car is a 2005 Element. The new Element is said to be "More Uban". The exterior looks less plastic, which I don't really appreciate. It lost the spirit of young and energetic and easy to approach. But feels like a teenage in a suite.

Carrera GT
This is the Carrera GT. A beautiful convertible.

Ford Concept
Ford concept car.

Inside LR3
Land Rover is my long time favorite. It is pure performance, like a heavy duty horse, yet not lacking of elegant. And it perfect fits my dream of wide wild. It is the car used by "Constant Gardener". Whereas later I found that it is not the most practical car for a tour into Tibet. Since it would hard to find parts and repair once breaking down. And most favorite cars in Tibet are Toyota Land Cruiser and Jeep Cherokee. However I still love Range Rover, and I have seen how it handles the tough terrain.

Land Rover LR3
LR3 is actually the Discovery 3. Discovery is a good balance of price and performance. The Discovery 1 and Discovery 2 is not much of difference at least from the exterior point of view (They actually looks like the wrangler family, with hard corners in the figures). But LR3 looks more Range Rover. You can recognize it from far away, by the unique curve of the back door. It has three rows but not as spacious as Ronge Rover. But to be honest. Even the Range Rover is not as spacious as the Element, especially the passenger seats. Sitting in the rear of an Element is like sitting in a basketball field. You have so much space to stretch your legs and arms.

Aston Martin
This is such an Ugly car. The color, the shape. I just can't believe 007 chose this car to escape with Bond Gilrl. But then it must be the performance or speed that makes it an Agent Vehicle. Still I can't forgive the engineers making it so ugly.

Jaguar
I like this car mostly because of its shape. I believe the performace is inpeccable since the price is not in a low range. Most people agree that that this car is for people above 40, but it doesn't prevent me from loving it. Anyway, I might never have a chance to own one before 50.

Lamborghini
I always have a question, why the genius Italian can make such an excellent car yet they might not even have much of chance to use it within their own country.
