It is Sera and Malcolm's joint Birthday party. The wonderful couple happen to be born in the same day of the same year. So that makes things easy, but on the other hand, they have less excuse to throw a party, as Amanda always complains that her birthday is so close to mine. Since the party is named as "S&M", the dressing code requires people to wear Leather or at least Leather accessories :P. The party is hosted at Tuts, owned by Malcolm's friend, an exotic and interesting place to go, and they serve hookah from Egypt.
College roommate NXL came to NYC. We haven't seen each other for almost 5 years. It is a little bit of scary, since I didn't realize it is that long. Well, maybe five years is not a long time at all. I feel like missing my ghetto dorm back in China with the gangs. Our golden years.
There are so many articles about the Oscar, so why should you read my BS about it? It is not a question for me, it is a question for you.
I still remember my first time watching Oscar live. That's in the living room of my dorm with a bunch of friends and a full table of food, and with the same piece of color TV that I am watching now, which I planed to keep and give to my son. I forgot about the content, what I can remember is all the noise we made and delicious food. So it is more like a spring festival kind of thing. Since movie is a very important part of everyday life in America, Academy night becomes very important for lots of people. It is like the Superbowl night (I only occasionally watch the halftime show). What you are watching is actually not that important. It just gave you an excuse to gather people around.
I am pretty happy about the result of this year's Academy, although even if I am not happy, I can do nothing about it. I really like Crash, it is full of witty. People saying that being witty and being funny are so easily misconducted, but thank god, I believe Crash achieved witty. And I really appreciate the beautiful scene in Brokeback Mountain, but can not really appreciate the sotry in general. But I did show respect to the awesome director Ann Lee, especially after he says hellow to all the people from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. I feel really proud of him.
